Just came across this, it's a nice and easy way of defining how one ranks from left to right and from authoritarian to libertarian...
Provides also a few examples of famous political leaders. Should allow us to permanently skip the whole European/US politics left/right scale on further debates.
Just answer a few questions and you'll know where you rank.
As far as I'm concerned, it states the following:

Quote

Economic Left/Right: -4.50
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -4.51
which puts me in the rather left, rather libertarian quarter.

Feel free to post where you rank, if you agree to display your political thoughts on a public forum (many have already).

I just took it. I wound up with

Economic Left/Right: 1.00
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -3.23

I'm not sure it clears up a lot though, just compares us to each other. It doesn't really level out the differences in the countries.

I show to be just slightly right but very into the libertarian area. Just about what i figured, Just about as close to center as you can get without being on the line between dem and repub, just slightly right. Here it would be considered centrist. I usually consider myself to be closely aligned with libertarian.

Here's the worlds smallest political quiz to see if you are libertartian. I hit right square in libertarian area.

Your Personal Self-Government Score is 80%.
Your Economic Self-Government Score is 80%.

http://www.self-gov.org/quiz.html

It's an interesting test though.

which puts me in the rather left, rather libertarian quarter.
So me calling you left winger is correct then?

I think we, along with betabuy and potterface are more centrist. On this scale it's not listed. It's just that the others are very left. :D

But yes, so far we are the only ones that have crossed the center line over to the right side.

very short test indeed but, this is what it said for me

Left-Liberals prefer self-government in personal matters and central decision-making on economics. They want government to serve the disadvantaged in the name of fairness. Leftists tolerate social diversity, but work for economic equality.
