Thanatos is the greek personification of death. He would claim a person's soul after Fates had cut the thread of their life.

aL Doom... My old nic was Doomsday ST but when I created a Red Alert (1) map that became popular in lan cafe's others started stealing the nic. Then I started using Dr. Doom. Guess what? others use it as well. The Doom just sounded gay. So i took "the" and and replaced it with its Arabic translation "al" hence aL Doom. Ironically in arabic an aldom is a a machine that construction workers use to break solid rock or asvalt. My friends had a blast making fun of the name but I stuck with it anyway :|

my name has no pseudo intellectual, philosphical, or geek based background.

it's my name.

or if you really want a meaning, OK, ummmm, how about, it's the iranian god of hair ribbons. he died after seeing a green one in a girl's hair and was taken to valhalla where he was and still is eternally persecuted by thor for being a ponce.

any iranians (or hair ribbon gods, or thunder gods, or residents of valhalla) that happen to be here, no i did not mean to cause any offense, no i couldn't care less about my ignorance of your rich culture.

A blending of the phrase "Go Speed Racer" with a nod to my profession -- public relations -- which is often called "spinning."

mid 90'ies I was a game's journo and used "gamebrain" to sign non-redactional texts (like replies to letters coming in to the mag).

when I stepped away from games a bit, I dropped that part from the name with the intent of having my name remind others of their mental capacity (hence my current avatar and sig, which show brain activity)...

unfortunately no-one seems to understand it that way and think that i am full of myself, judging myself intelligent and shit, so (1) that is more their problem than mine, yet (2) I put "IQ1" or "use yours" as member title and "teh dummest" in my signature image.
