Woot turns out it's an easy fix.

Start - Run - regedit

HKCU,SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer

Add a new string, name it InstalledByUser
Give it the value 0x10001

Run the uninstaller - it will note that this will break your computer, but that is lies, it works fine.
Reboot.
IE6 is back.

No lame system restore required. :)

Or just check the "show updates" option at the top of the add or remove programs screen and you can remove it from there.

@Flying Dutchmen: If you had seen the previous thread, you'd know that this was for people who only had a partial installation and therefore couldn't remove it.

It would also be for those who had problems with the real uninstaller.

I'm still stuck. After setting the reg key, I still don't see Internet Explorer 7 in the Add/Remove Programs list.

Would you confirm the value of the reg key? What else could be wrong?

@scruzphreak: Did you check the "Show updates" setting at the top of the Add/Remvoe Programs dialog, and then scroll to the corresponding sublist of "Windows XP - Software Updates"?

IN all honesty, I just do not see why people install such a program like BETA IE7 on their machines - then complain they can't remove it....its beta. sure we all like to try out new stuff, which is good, but surely you're risking alot
