I didnt change any icons, I can still see the cs2 icons. :\

Depending on how the (if) the manafest file is coded/embeded in the .dll file could make this behavior Hit-or-Miss.

(I don't have time to check now) But if the file has no embeded manafest (or it's coded wrong), Windows will create one for it, and that (if the file is changed after the fact) leaves which icon is displayed up to the whim of the shell.

I registered to simply thank you so much for your efforts. It worked just as you claimed and without any unpleasant surprises, like most home grown products.

What puzzled me is I've got PS CS2 on my home desktop system and had no problems viewing thumbnails without having to take any extra steps. However, with my job's laptop, I did need your utility.

PS CS2 continues to be a major PITB due all the memory it demands and all the little things Adobe didn't bother to maintain to keep their customers happy.

Just a quick heads up. This trick works in Windows Vista too.

it seems it only works on windows vista 32-bit, i have the 64-bit version of vista ultimate, and tried to apply the fix, but it doesn't seem to work... or at least it seemed to not work, until i tried to upload a file.... i opened the "browse" window and i happened to see a psd file as a thumbnail.... this puzzled me because i cannot see thumbnails in the folders themselves... but i could in the browse window. after i closed this window i went to the folder in windows explorer.... and the thumbnails where there! however it seems that the browse window is the only one that renders these thumbnails since psd files in other folders still don't show up... can anyone help me figure out what the problem is? thanks

I found this worked really well after one brief glitch..... When I installed XP Home Edition on my rebuilt computer (for reasons beyond my understanding) it designated the boot drive as "F:" and the slave drive as "C:". In order for this PSD thumbnail viewer installation to work correctly The dll file must be installed in the appropriately named folder on the "C" drive - even if it is not the boot drive where Photoshop itself is located. Once I created a dummy Photoshop subdirectory on the "C:" drive and moved the dll file over I had no problems.

just replace the "C:\Program Files\Common Files" path in the .reg with %CommonFilesDir%", and windows will find the file automatically, regardless of the drive letter.

Sorry lads, I will re-up the original soon.

Edit* The one cherny2004 linked to, is for Adobe Illustrator, not Photoshop.
