So Ive been really inactive here and heres why, Im not a manager for a Hip Hop group here in Canberra ACT. The name is "BornStarz" and uh yeah, we're working on our Demo right now and we just finished two tracks last week. Its been played at parties here and there and crowd loved it. So 'so far so good' i would say. Just after some more feedback from different people. I know most people here dont like rap and all that but this isnt "gangsta" or like ... "yo nigga i got rims" and shit. It will make you move though :P

Here are two samples from the tracks.
BornStarz - Bounce 2 Dis
BornStarz - 2nights Da Night

Thanks.

*i dont feel like i would break any laws with this, because the stuff is MINE heh*

Ok well "BornStarz" in the first one sounds like "PornStarz". Not sure if that's good or bad.

Either way, IMHO the name is retarded.

Songs aren't horrible, I've heard worse. It's still rap though, and rap is pretty much crap through out.

"yo nigga i got rims"

Interesting slogan you choose to describe a brand of music that seems to have transcended 'niggas'....

lol well thats basically in most gangsta rap, lexani are getting worldwide recognition through 50 Cent and The Game and such. But yea, people here like the stuff and the name too surprisingly. I didnt think it would be a keeper and yes, we are all aware it sounds like pornstars, i was talking about Pornstars (LOL) when the name popped up. Well thanks anyway

Its not bad, listenable in a club :)

Thats coming from someone who rarely listens to rap (Zebrahead and Weerd Science exclusions!)

I hate the word "nigga" used in songs though

Not really feeling this. I am more into stuff like Atmosphere, RJD2, Sage Francis, MF Doom and Cunninglynguist.

Zebrahead? I always thought they were more punky.

and yeah, I'd like it in a club but I'm not much of a rap person although I am listening to mos def and gorillaz a bit more now.

I thought the same thing, then listened again and there is some rap going on in it.

i am by no means an expert in this genre of music, but, i'll give my opinion of it anyway cos, well, i'm an opinionated bigot.

the lyrics are oversimplistic and don't develop nearly as much as they need to; the backing track is repetetive and sounds like it was made on a 'my first casio' keyboard.

technically proficient though, and it's performed with enthusiasm and i can't really fault the vocals (although it seems like you looped a few too many voice samples)

just wanna throw my criticisms down though, cos that's the only way you'll get better - if everyone's always like OH WOW IT'S SO COOL YEAH YOU SHOULD SEND IT TO SONY AND STUFF you'll get nowhere.

good luck with it, man!

the songs have a catchy melody, which is always good, and decent lyrics. however, the lyrics could be improved. they need to be more original; they sound like a compilation of many phrases, and styles of other artists.

i would also drop the muddy high-hat in Bounce 2 Dis and add a drum set. it will give a more solid beat and authentic sound. i always like something other than bass driving the song ;)

the producer put waaaay too much bass on the beats i know. mmm, its rap, the lyrics are gonna be as they are in most rap, the beat sounds like a casio keyboard? lol

and no i didnt loop the vocals <_< its him singin it so yea maybe he's repeating something you might think is being looped. what is being looped is, the beat which is why fod you think its repetetive. Ill take note of all the criticism cause thats what im actually after, id rather get criticised now and fix it up, than release the demo and then get criticised.

thanks ;)

edit: oh yeah, Sony is said to be a real dhoddy record label lol :P and no, no one has been sayin "wow send it to sony". ladies love "2nights The Night" though, ive had a girl say to me "tonights the night baby what you wanna do?" .. and yeah.. just sayin that Sony is Gay
