Today on Rush's show he was going after these so-called "carbon credits." The same politicians and celebrities that preach about environmental protection generate tons of pollution from their huge electric bills and private jets. Yet, they think they can get away with that by paying someone to plant some trees... or capture cow farts...

Hah! This was classic Rush:Politicians like Al Gore aren't going to cut back on their lavish, pollution-generating lifestyle. No, they'll pay someone else to do it. rolleyes.gif

But he made a good point later on, that these carbon credits are nothing but a precursor to more taxes.

Yep, heard this show as well, makes no sense why the public lets people like Gore get away with such hyprocrisy (not to mention awarding him with an Oscar for his "falsementary")

The notion of "buying carbon credits" is dangerous.

---

Until there is a market where people who use less energy can sell their carbon credits, there is no excess credits to buy.

and until they establish a regulation of energy usuage for each citizen, there can not be a determination of what is excess. Plain and simple, there has to be a limit established for there to be a way to offset how much someone can use.

Buying carbon credits is investing in government controlled energy usage.

Carbon credits are like 'green credits'. Even though it seems like a money maker for the rich, think of it this way.

If we designate XXX carbon credits for each company, that they are require to fulfill. One company can "buy" another companies credits, which will then make that company money, so they only have to produce XX credits, whereas the other company now has to produce XXXX credits.

It's still the same XXXXXX credits being made. It's a matter of who that changes. I know its not just ducky and spectacular as we'd like, but at least its in the right direction.

Al Gore's house uses 30% more electricity than the average Tennessee home. That's because his house is the ONLY house WITH electricity in Tennessee. - Bill Maher laugh.gif
