A couple months ago I tried the top 6 (DistroWatch) that had Live CDs.

The only one that recognized my wireless OOTB was OpenSUSE.

Thats what I dual booted on my Vista laptop. I was never able to sort out the choppy video playback. Seems there are no good Linux drivers for an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600. In fact thats what messed up my OpenSUSE install. Me mucking about & trying to install some other drivers. Finally just wiped it & am licking my wounds.

So does anybody know of a distro with a LiveCD that works well OOTB with my Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN & has good drivers (no choppy playback) for my ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600?

Ubuntu should work fine. Also if the wireless does not work just use ndiswrapper.

Can you give me a lspci readout of your wireless card.

For your ATI card you need to install the property drivers for it. Then you can get good playback.

Dr.Zoidberg right now my laptop is single boot again, Vista64. After I messed up the X console in OpenSUSE. It's gonna be awhile before I install another distro. Just to get my moxy up, lol. Can I get the lspci readout of my wireless card while running a LiveCD? If so, please what are the commands? And also I figure that can't be obtained while in Vista64.

You can use lspci from livecd. That is not a problem.

Give Blag, http://www.blagblagblag.org/ or Zenwalk, http://www.zenwalk.org/ a try. I haven't found a computer yet that EVERYTHING doesn't work out of the box with either of these 2 lightweight distros.

No having to look for stupid codecs in either of these. Unrar utility actually comes with these 2 also!!

DO NOT use that stupid bloatware/fanboy Ubuntu!!
