I hoped they would include 2.6.29, but 9.04 is still on 28. I'm always too lazy to make the extra effort and install it myself. 29 is just too new. Well it's only 6 months until 9.10...

Not a bad distro for Linux beginners due to the size of their forum, but man, is that one bloated OS!!
Always thought updating to a new version every 6 months was rediculous. After using Ubuntu 5.04 up through 6.04/10, I couldn't take that anymore.
Zenwalk or Blag are MUCH better and lighter.

Just because there is an update, doesn't mean you have to install it. That's what the long term support versions are there for.
New distro upgrade every 6 months is part of what made Ubuntu this great. They can react faster to changes or desires of the community... Ugly changes don't stick forever...
Also, 6 months really are long in the Linux world. Just look at changes between kernel sub versions. Thousands of changes happen.

Last I checked, the upgrade process from one release version to the next is seamless anyway; just mount the new ISO once every 6 months, and enjoy the new wallpaper.

Or as with Debian, you just click "update" and it updates the packages. A few minutes later, you're on the next version of the OS.

Yes, works like a dream.
Just imagine the same would be possible on windows. Just pressing upgrade and your Vista is now 7.
