would you mind providing some details regarding the sequence of steps leading up to this (e.g., was it an unused key, did you use one of the app programs to activate or did you do it manually? if so where did you get the 2 flies--on the same computer from a dual boot or other?) Mine is still genuinely activated, just got a update for my printer driver a moment ago...

this is how i ended up getting it activated, it was suggested by M.W on another thread on this board......I "used the "pkeyconfig tokens.dat" switch suggested by M.W. It appears to have worked as my 7264 (64) build says activated. However, I used the pkeyconfig tokens.dat files from version 7201. I had some diffculty copy and replacing the files (it kept saying i didnt have permission). I played around with the original file (took ownership of it). I ended up deleting the original and then copying the 7201 versions. Not sure if it had to do with the taking ownership of the file or if it needed to be deleted before copying the 7201 version....

Not sure if any of this matters but i activated a 64 bit version, used files from an activated 7201 build on the same machine, useda key that was oriaginal and never used before...

I tried several methods to activate Windows 7.
First I followed the steps to activate Windows manually with the 2 files integrated of the posted Link.
Second I tried app programms to active, but they dont work too.

Heh, I love how much effort some of you are going through for a build that will be supplanted by the RTM on Monday....

Hey guys!
Im trying to get this to work. But its failing every time.
Im using an evalutaion copy of W7 ultimate, build 7264 (thats what my watermark says after a fresh install)

I have tried the manual activation, but no luck.
The .bat file supplied earlier in this post gives me error messages saying the cdkey was not valid and so on.

Somebody mentioned the use of a cdkey. When you install W7, at the end of the install prosess, you are asked to enter a product key, and you kan choose to activate W7 when connected to the internet. I tried to enter the product key i got from Microsoft to use with the RC version, but this didnt work.

But i can choose to not enter any productkey and start W7 up, so this is how far i have come. After this, i try the different ways to activate W7, but they all fail.

Any tips to what to do would be great!
Hope the information provided is enough.

*Edit*

well. I did a reboot after following the manually activation prosess. After startup i got a message saying that my Windows was not valid.

So i checked the activation status. It gave me to choices, 1 enter a new product key, 2 activate windows now.
I chose nr 2. And all of a sudden, my windows was activated!

Now i didnt get this information from following the guides, so perhaps there should be a notice in there to chose activate now after moving over the to files mentioned. Cause this seems to have done the trick for me.

Will do a reboot now, and if the activation doesent work after that, ill let you know! smile.gif

Thanks u guys!

I have been in force since July, without any problems and receive updates without problems. Page 2 files are manually build 7201 differeent partition that was installed on the same machine. I wonder what will come in apricot / black screen so that no genuine otehrs not end here .
Well, I used the product key that I got RC download page, and has not been used before.
