I have a Dell Inspiron XPS Notebook Desktop Replacement. I am running Windows 7 32bit. However, Dell only drivers only support the Windows XP operating system Since this Notebook came out in 2005 it is pretty much obsolete in dells eyes as far as Driver and OS support goes. Anyways, since the Intel chipset and Dell Notebook System Software (NSS) was designed for Windows XP Do I really need to install it on my notebook now that Im running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit? The chipset software and NSS arnt supported by Win7 but i can force install them but its not necassary right? Wont it do more damage than good since both those softwares were designed for XP?

In fact, I think the chipset and drivers Windows7 installs is newer than that of my chipset software and Dell Notebook System Software. If I goto the device manager and manually choose to update the driver from the internet then its usually up-to-date, but after I install the chipset and dell Notebook system software then almost all my drivers in the device manager have to be UPDATED though the internet. So its like my chipset and system software are s old that they actually have drivers that are OLDER than the ones that Windows7 installs. Any comments would be helpful though.
