Hey guys. I have a problem with a folder called '.Trash-999'.

From what I've found on Google, a lot of people have problems with this folder, but I haven't been able to find out exactly what it is, or why I can't delete it. Some people claim it's something to do with a Photoshop (possible, because I have got PS installed, but I don't think it is), others put it down to a virus (highly unlikely, purely due to the folder's contents) and thirdly, and I think most likely, down to a system crash.

I think this is the most likely because the contents of the folder seems to be a backup of my 'users' and 'windows' directories.

At a little over 4 gig, this folder is taking up a sizeable portion of my disk and I'm eager to delete is, but windows gives the standard "file in use or read only" etc message, a program I've used before called "Unlocker" says that the file is being deleted, but nothing happens.

I've tried deleting it via a command prompt, in safe mode, even in ubuntu but nothing seems to work.

I know that this seems like a pretty long post but I really have had enough of this little pest not going away. Any help or ideas really would be soooooo much appreciated

Hmmmm

The fact that it has a dot infront of the folder name makes me think it is probably a unix/linux generated folder/dir

Have you been dual booting?

Hi Tam, thanks for your reply. I havent been dual booting in the sense of havine 2 OS's installed at any one time, but I have used an ubuntu live CD, do you think it could be something to do with this?
