Has anyone else signed up for the Chrome OS beta test? Beta testers get a free Chrome netbook:

I signed up a few days ago when they first announced this. I really doubted that I would get one, so I was quite surprised when UPS came and delivered mine today.

It's an interesting device. You power it on, join to the wireless network, accept the agreement, let it install its updates, then login with your Google account. You're up at the Chrome web browser. All your settings, bookmarks, themes, and extensions are automatically pulled over from your Google account. It's super-simple, and I can see it having its uses.

Another interesting thing is the built-in Verizon 3G support. They give you free 100MB/month for two years. Sure, that's not much, but it's enough to check your email from time to time if no WiFi is available. Different monthly plans are available, and they also have a daily pay-per-use option where you pay $9.99 for one day of unlimited use. If I am traveling and no WiFi is available, I would be willing to pay that for one or two days.

So anyways, it's an interesting toy to play with. And who knows, I might find a quick, cheap Internet device to be pretty useful.
