Well at long last Duke Nukem Forever is finally going to be released on June 14, 2011 - 14 years since its development begain. Several years back we started getting our hopes up when it looked like 3D Realms was actually making progress. Then in 2009 they had to end development and lay off most of their employees.
Apparently some former employees continued working on the game, and the development was transferred to Gearbox. After about two years, they finished it. It seems that it's pretty much the same game that 3D Realms was working on. Many former 3D Realms employees are still involved. In fact, the president of Gearbox (Randy Pitchford) is also a former 3D Realms employee, and was involved with Duke Nukem 3D.
I'm glad to see the game is finally finished, but it's kind of sad that 3D Realms couldn't finish it. I don't know how good this game is going to be, but judging by the screenshots and trailers, I'll probably buy it through Steam.

Gotta love it when the ESRB description takes about a paragraph.
