Yeah man, I feel safe. The government here doesn't have the technology to spy on their citizens to see what they are downloading, so I am tehwarez freak.

Any data transferred over the internet is, ultimately, traceable. You can use proxys, gateways, even dummy computers to make your trail harder to trace, but eventually someone can and will, with enough effort.

Bit torrent is just as unsafe as kazaa, emule, gnutella, etc. The only difference is that the RIA aren't pursuing torrent technology as much as "normal" p2p.

Napster should be safe though, seeing as its gone legit ;)

i only use BT to download anime, so yeah, i feel safe.

Provided that said anime isn't a dvd rip by one of the major movie companies. For example, downloading a rip of Ghost in the Shell 2 would be a bad idea....

I vote No. Torrents are no safer than other P2P networks. If fact, they probably have less privacy. I mean, anyone can see a list of IPs downloading the torrent, and who is sharing the most.

But that doesn't stop me from using torrents though.

Not safe at all...

I would say IRC is the safest as the server owners generally mask your IP to all except mods and admins.

Actually, usenet is the safest way. NNTP's distributed model makes it virtually impossible to track individual downloaders. Most NNTP servers don't do any logging of downloads at all, due to the massive amount of data that would result. And with the right provider, NNTP can be as fast as your connection can pull.
