Quick Tip:

If you want to use this build without affecting Internet Explorer 6. Extract the .exe with WinRAR - find the file SHLWAPI.DLL and delete it. Then create a new text document then rename it and its extension to IEXPLORE.exe.local

Your good to go ;)

Note: This also bypasses the validation.

I don't think you need to uninstall IE7 Beta 1, if you are using the 'local' trick. In that case you should be able to run IE6, IE7 B1 and IE7 B2 side-by-side.

when i tried installing beta2, it kept telling me to uninstall beta1. i'd rather not keep ie6, and beta 1 on my system.

open add/remove programs, then check the "show updates" at the top. it's listed near the bottom to uninstall.

well, I can't remove it with no uninstall files, tried the local trick, still said remove ie7b1 first??

tried running iexplore.exe but it opens then quits. seems lame that you can't upgrade :(
but if you bypass the validation surely you can bypass the install check. found a slightly different trick here http://daydream.word...thout-updating/ doesn't work either.

ugh I hate service pack installers.
