That's two x86 releases anyway, not one of each. And how come the 32-bit version says "Professional" while the 64-bit one's still "Ultimate"? ohmy.gif

I've fixed the RS.com links, they weren't dead just badly "pasted"

Also, yes this is the professional version, but it's easily converted to Ultimate by performing a small edit to 1 text file.

I've been in a meeting in the local Microsoft HQ not long ago, where they told me "Ultimate" is going to be very limited in distribution, and that "Professional" is going to be the "All-in-one" 'ultimate' SKU.

Anyway, I got it from another source, where the installation had all 5 SKUs (as well as 64bit links).

I'm installing it now. The first change: theres' now a line of text at the bottom on the installation box that gives more info on the current install process ("Copying files to hard drive, 372 out of 2278MB completed").

The version I pulled from Usenet has the same install options as Vista; to choose the version you want from a list. I picked Ultimate, as per usual.

The installation changes were present in 7057 as well. Unsure about 7048, I can't remember.

OK, for those who want remove the Pro only restriction...

Open the ISO in your preferered app ( I used PowerISO) and remove the file \sources\ei.cfg
then save the ISO again.

Now either mount to a drive, or burn to a DVD and install this baby!

You will now be prompted to install which version you want.

Hope this helps you all.

I'm running it just now (clean install) but haven't had much of a chance to play around with it yet!

Probably not Danthe. All the Beta and RC keys for both Vista and 7 have always been ultimate keys.

You can give it a go though...

And as for turning it into ultimate, all i do is vlite the image and make it unattended. This will give you the option of rebuilding all the SKU's or any specific one you want to use.
It'll also get rid of UAC which is always a pain in my ass!!

I know a lot of people like it, but for someone that is pc and web literate i don't think it's all that vital to run it..



Oh and the links i just posted maxed out my 20meg connection. so it might be worth beasting on them and save your Usenet traffic...
