So we've got some new information in about Windows Phone 7, which is supposed to be available around the end of the year.

New improvements over previous Windows Mobile versions include:
  • A locked user interface which won't allow the use of competing ones (such as SPB Mobile Shell and Point UI)
  • A locked application installation system which only allows Microsoft-approved apps
  • Removal of multi-tasking ability
  • Inability to run applications written for previous versions of Windows Mobile

Unbelievable! It's like Microsoft did a survey of what features iPhone users would like the most, and cut those features from their own platform. If Windows Phone 7 truly is a locked down system which only allows installation of Microsoft-approved apps, then I'll view it with as much scorn as I do the iPhone. blink.gif

Wow, that does suck. I guess it a good time to be old fashioned ... I use my phone to make calls, then I put it away. That's it.

While this doesn't dispute the above WP7, its new UI and hardware It does seem to put a bit more positive spin on it.
