The dark green is ancient virgin untouched forest, meaning it most likely has never been touched by man, never culled for lumber, and could have very well existed thousands of years ago.

The other stuff i imagine has been exploited over the years and some allowed to grow new vegitation. The light green could also contain old growth forest but could only be a few hundred years ago. The ancient stuff could be MUCH older than that.

dont know, dont care, I hate green peace, half the people in the "group" dont even know what they are talking about. they just think its cool and the "right" thing to do. ignorance is not a good thig in this case... just annoying.

for example, i was watching a show on showtime its called "Penn and Teller Bull Shit" and the went to a green peace convention and they passed a petition around asking to ban Dihydrogen Monoxide. (for you who dont know thats water) they said that it induces vomiting and excesive urination. They got over half of the people there to sign it. (they had no idea what it was, they just signed it because everyone else was and they were all ignorant. they believe everything they heard.

another thing... a few years back the US was going to send food to 3rd world country (dont remember which one) and green peace was saying that its geneticly engineered food and if they eat it they will get sick and will mutate and stuff like that. The country believe them and said no to the food...

Not to mention the lawsuits they have received for animal cruelty while filming their ads. Yes, some of those ads which show people beating animals and such have turned out to be greenpeace employees themselves (or hired by them for that matter). All for publicity. Hypocritical lowlifes. I remember there were several cases, but the most famous one was the one regarding the Kangaroo torturers back in the 80's.

WWF International and other less fanatical NGOs should provide a source of more reliable data.
