I have asked this in many forums (if you have already answered, don't bother answering again), but just out of curiousity, what is your favorite OS? Windows for me, just cuz I've used it pretty much my whole life, and it's just so familar to me.
DangerousDave86
I voted (Windows) but I feel this topic may not last very long.

I voted for windows tongue.gif...
but I've been using mandrake-Linux for a while, and is pretty good.

As much as i'd like to switch to osx or linux, i like running windows-only applications, and don't want to bother rebooting to run open source versions of mainstream programs. Maybe when there's an open api (that runs at fullspeed, sorry java!)

I think I'll have to vote for DOS also. I always find myself going back to the command prompt. Sometimes it's easier to just type what you want than to do all the moving and clicking.

DOS may be useful at times, but seriously.... what are you gonna do in DOS? blink.gif There's no internet, no graphics, etc.

I don't understand how DOS could be a favorite OS -- it's just a command line.

every os sucks.
Heart_Attack
DOS will always have a special place in my heart. I learned PCs on DOS, therefore, it'll always be my favorite. However, of the newer OSes, then I'd have to say Win XP, but Vista is sure to replace that, but I don't think any OS will ever beat DOS
Jizzylax
i did like WFW 3.11 though ... that and DOS were so awesome together (except for boot disks, out of memory shit ....)
Heart_Attack
WFW 3.11 pwned with DOS, but it did have a few issues with memory leaks, that and when y2k hit, my files were a bit...um...weirdly dated. but once the fix was on there, it was great. when we move, and i ahve my workstation set up the way i want, i'll probably have a dos machine again biggrin.gif i can't wait for that.

I'm getting an error when trying to vote for Windows:

You did not choose a poll choice to vote against. Please go back and ensure you click on one of the radio buttons next to the choice you wish to vote for
Heart_Attack
That has happened on a lot of boards with the polls made in 2.0.4 and upgraded to 2.1

I can't remember the fix now, except re-make the poll wink2.gif

Dos is definitely my favorite, and if you needed something like the internet you could always go to good ol windows but you knew that once you went back to dos, you were not crashing.

Ubuntu Linux (*nix)
im_to_hyper
My favorite non-beta Windows release is Windows XP Pro with SP2.

Now then, my overall favorite OS of all time... OS X. 10.4 Tiger is nice, but I like 10.3 as well. The same can't really be said for 10.0.3-10.2.9.

Windows sorry.... I am 1337 like others here. sad.gif
Danthe
I voted Other, because I prefer Windows for gaming and designing, but *nix for servers and rendering.
