After my grandfather passed away a few years ago, I got his Magnavox television. It's a standard issue thing, about 27"

Starting yesterday, the image went to hell. I would watch one channel, and then change channels, and it looked like the top of the picture was starting to get scrambled. Then it would right itself after a few min, then scramble a little, then be fine.

Today, earlier, it was all sorts of scrambled on every channel. Later today, it was perfect. I turned off the TV, to do some other work and came back, now its all scrambled and snow. I got 1 channel for a couple seconds, then I changed channels and lost everything.

To test the TV, I ran the "menu" feature of it, to try to re 'add' all the channels, but even the menu was bending and moving in a ripple effect...

I guess this sucker is done... unless someone knows of a way to fix this? my guess is that the picture tube is going.

I'm gonna head to Best Buy and see if I can buy a plain old picture tube TV.

Is your cable attatched all the way and screwed into the TV?

Hapenned to me once, felt like an ass. Discovered it when I brought my new TV home and had to unhook the "broken" one.

alot of times and if you have a repairman near by its just a simple circuit board replacement....i had an old 20inch rca "1989" i think, lasted me till just 2003.

i had a board replaced cost about 60 dollars...well worth the replacement.....research that first.
