Just curious...
DigitalDude2005
Where's the option "i like some rap" because some rap songs I like. I don't really stick to one genre. I like alot of songs from different ones. Can't say I hate it and cant say I love it to death.
Heart_Attack
I like some, but like DD2005 said, I don't stick to one genre, I also like R&B, Rock, and others.
Nightwind Hawk
I voted "I'll listen but won't buy" because it's kind of the middle option. I think RAP is funny because it's so stupid-- so I'm not gonna run. haha
canonassasin
Mainstream rap, for the most part, is shit. I listen to stuff like, Common, Mos Def, Jedi Mind Tricks. You will never find me listening to Lil John or 50 Cent.
Hasin
I like these new rap songs disrespecting 50 Cent biggrin.gif
love em smile.gif

50 Cent and Lil John just piss me off.

EDIT: try these songs:

F**k 50 - Fat Joe
Dont Body Yourself - Nas
300 Bars - The Game <-- Funniest song ever disrecpecting G-Unit

just search for "50 Cent Dis" cool2.gif
DJP
I hate it. It's the reason why i bought a subscription to digital cable television to watch vh1 and vh1 classic to be free of rap music. The public musicchannels here in the netherlands only broadcast freaking rap and loads of ringtone commercials of jamba/jamster. You know the ones.
canonassasin
@hasin: I don't like Fat Joe or the Game, but Nas is okay.
Singh400
I'll listen to it, but I wouldn't buy any - would visit those special stores though wink2.gif.

Nas/Kayne West/Jay Z

It mostly depends on the song, for example if they rapper is talking about his bitches, and hos, etc etc. I dont like it, but some rap songs am meaningful so yeah I like those ones.
paulmer2003
i like rap alot, but latly songs have sucked on the dick like noone other. i mean holy shit yesterday i was listening to the radio, listened for like 30 minutes and didnt hear 1 song i didnt hate. Run DMC forever bitchez!

damn right. i fucking hate 50 and any other rapper who only talks about "fucking bitchez and sluts in the club" and having a gun the size of lil bow wow!

also....NaS is fuckin great.
canonassasin
RunDmc is classic. A lot of 80's rap and early 90's stuff is cool. Wu-Tang is another good group, I believe they formed 92-93.
bd55
I have aversion to rap.
Jizzylax
give me kweli or mos def, or wu-tang, or classics like old dre, nwa and snoop. other than that (NEW STUFF) no thanks. it sucks.
benny6700

There is some new good stuff coming through now, although very slowly as all the record companies want the next 50 Cent.

Try something like Handsome Boy Modelling School, who is primarily Prince Paul and Dan the Automator, most known for his work on the original Gorrilaz album.

Another good artist is Buck 65, who's latest album is a rap/country experimental album that more traditional sounds over some nice beats, and his Square album is a fusion of blues and hip hop.

The Streets are pretty much a love em or hate em act, Outkast as well as Jay Z and Nas' previous and latest albums are also great.

Other than that I tend to agree with a few people in this thread, Kweli, Kanye, Mos Def, Jedi Mind Tricks are all great acts.

If you like Jedi Mind Tricks, you'll probably like Sage Francis as well, who is the most political musician I've heard since Rage Against The Machine.
Brains
it is my preferred genre, but I listen to a lot of different tunez outside rap.

ice-t, cypress hill, epmd, ice cube, lil'kim, mc solaar (french), missy elliot, nas, nwa, paris, public enemy, snoop etc.
paulmer2003
anyone listen to GangStarr? i "got" a few of his cd's last night...good stuff
Candyman
I work with teens in a non profit youth work program I started 13 years ago, so I pretty much am FORCED (lol!) to hear the latest stuff from Nas, Mike Jones, David Banner, Young Jeezy and so on. Can't say all of it's bad, though some of the songs are just pure garbage while others I'll actually sing along to, heck, after listening to them 500 times you tend to learn the words (that you can understand anyway).
Fod
some rap is OK. outkast are pretty good. the rapping in the gorillaz songs is generally of high quality.

NaS is a classic, david banner and young jeezy and shit like that is pretty gay. noone of this new shit can ever touch the likes of NaS's Stillmatic or old 2pac joints.
Microshit
rap hurts my ears. laugh.gif but outkast are good...

Audioboxer
If its done within the music genre I like, its sometimes ok/good rolleyes.gif

Hmmm only band I like that comes to mind just now that contain rap are Zebrahead.
