Full Version: Man Shot After He Pepper Sprays Police Officer

CATONSVILLE, Md. — Baltimore County police have identified a Catonsville man fatally shot by an officer after he used pepper spray on another officer and charged at both of them with a machete.

Around 9:20 p.m. on Saturday, two officers responded to a report that 25-year-old Jason William Leary was violently beating his wife at his home in the 6100 block of Edmonson Avenue in Catonsville.

Police say Leary met the officers at the front door and sprayed one officer, then he ran at the officers on the porch with a machete raised toward them. The second officer fired several shots, hitting Leary at least once.

Police say Leary was taken to St. Agnes Hospital, where he died a short time later.

The officers received minor injuries and were treated at the scene. The officer who shot Leary is on administrative leave while an internal investigation into the shooting is conducted.

hmm... Well, if he charged at them with a machete, then they had a good reason to shoot him.

The good thing about criminals who go down in a fight is that we save money on court and prison costs. smile.gif

The cop was was totally right to do kill him IMO

The madman should have known not to run at the cop with a deadly weapon. Bang bang yer dead matey!

No, that doesn't mean I'm against crimes being punished... rolleyes.gif

btw: Tasers can kill people too. Several people already died after being tasered, later alone in the cell of shock etc. - people with a pacemaker and heart problems in general are more likely in mortal danger. You can't see in someones face if he/she has a weak heart. Often people don't know themselves. Just saying: Tasers aren't necessarily an easy solution for using force but hardly hurting anyone. Politicians in Switzerland are therefore fighting right now, whether Tasers should be used by the police or not. Also, long term repercussions are still unknown. Don't forget that electric shocks are used for torture - in evil countries far far away.
