Around the turn of the century it seemed movies were wayyyy ahead of TV. We had fancy new special effects and the TV audience was obsessed with reality TV.
but now it seems the only movies released are sequels/prequels, remakes/spinoffs/adaptations, or rely on twists. (twists aren't ideas, twists are twists!!). Now TV and it's 'epic hour-longs' like Lost, Heroes, Dexter, Prison Break etc seem to be more fun to watch. And with the internet, we can watch our favourite shows like movies, and not have to wait for a specific episode to cycle through syndication. (this and season box-sets are all the rage).
*sidenote, swearing and boobs are in some TV shows now, eliminating one of those last irritating little restrictions*
[edit]
my vote is TV.
Dexter, Heroes, Pushing Daisies are all much more entertaining than most movies I come across.

In general, I enjoy more television programs than I do movies.
It seems like it's few and far between on the movie titles that I can actually recommend to others or want to watch again.
Therefore, I voted TV, but where's your vote potter?

Movies, Movies, Movies.
I know that a lot of movies are crap, but TV is no so different, just some good series as with movies, some good ones.
I waste to much time watching movies, even bad movies...
Course I watch a lot of TV shows too.
Go go Satellite TV ftw! best of both worlds... BUT I do watch more TV than movies.

Well another superior aspect about television is, with a good program, you have a countless number of episodes as compared to a good movie with possibly one, two, or maybe three sequels at best.
For example, compare the 5 seasons of "24" with 24 episodes/season to the original Star Wars trilogy. That's like 120 hours to 6. No contest!
Plus, with television, you have the added avantage of being able to tell a long & drawn out story over a period of time. "Babylon 5" anyone?
Don't get me wrong though, I love a good movie too and watching my favorites again & again.

TV,, hands down, especially with the quality of movies being made lately. Think about it - even if you give them some leeway on what people like, the number of hours of decent entertainment in movies is less than a normal season of a good TV show (averaging 23 episodes at 43 minutes per). to put that in perspective, I watch about 8-10 shows a year, about 5 of which are on at any given time. 4 hours a week of entertainment - there's no way hollywood has two new movies a week that I might even remotely be interested in seeing.
That's of course not counting indie flicks; there's a lot of good stuff at our local art-house theater. If I could use Tivo on it and watch the films whenever I wanted like I can TV, I'd watch a lot more films there.

another edge I believe TV has is that they sort of have to appeal to a broader range of people. they want the bored folks at home looking for something to watch, to watch their shows. they can't rely on a hardcore following the way some movies do. movies can be very niche-y.
