Well there is a forest fire beside my house so I had to be evacuated.

Here is a pic I took on my phone when I was in town today...



All that is smoke from the fire.

My whole community was evacuated. 11 Home (to my knowledge) have been burnt down. I don't think my place is in the path of the fire so it should be safe (hopefully).



My friend Jason at work took these on his way home:

oh man, that's nuts. I feel for you guys, we had some prescribed burns go crazy a few years back. (we were the lucky ones that summer for fires )
I hope the weather lets (and helps) the firemen do their jobs before more houses burn.

I saw it on my way home from work yesterday coming sdown the Bedford Hwy. Man I thought I could see the orange glow of flames. The fire jumped the highway and everything.

It really sucked b/c the wind was terrible here in Nova Scotia yesterday. Are you back home yet? Scott, If you need anything hit me up. i am here all night and have a couch if you require it.

I also want to sleep on your couch :s

But yeah, those fires are fucked. We have forest fires at several locations here in Sweden... And well, our ancient forests and homes are burning. Damnit.

Oh wow, I'm glad you're okay Scott and I hope the firemen are able to get things back under control soon.

I'm fine, I'm staying at my Dad's place in Eastern Passage (parents are separated). I guess it's getting really close now... It's on Emily Court. I'll Google Map it so everyone knows what we're talking about...

This is a rough sketch of where the fire is currently from what I have heard from my Mother and other people fighting the fire.

Damn... that is too close for comfort.

Your friend's house is right in the line of fire. Your house is at least buffered by the water.

Yeah the fire trucks are down there helping. So her house is safe.

Mine is fine. Just confirmed it with my other friend who is a volunteer fire fighter.

Everything should be OK. A few houses were lost though :S.

Damn, I hope everything's alright! I was evacuated two years ago for the same reason... not a fun time. I feel for you!

Yellow is where the fire started, orange is the fire path. Although in this pic it doesn't show that it's near Mineville... it is, a few houses were lost.
