The Hackers on Planet Earth (HOPE) convention is coming up soon. I'm going to be there both as an attendee and as a volunteer/employee running sound/lighting for the talks. I was wondering if anyone else from here was going to be there.

It's in NYC Jul 17-20 at the Hotel Pennsylvania. Lots of famous people will be there talking - definitely worth going to.

I've never heard of it. This is interesting.
Not all hackers do so illegally, Techneut. Hell, some hackers are even employed by government agencies like the FBI.

That doesn't make it "legal" ... it just mean their alibi is furnished for them...

You don't always have to be black-hat. There are some white-hat hackers out there.
I am indeed well aware of the distinction, however... anytime you wish the target ill...your "hat" get a bit grayer.

so no, there's another one in 2 years and i'm definitely going again. there were plans of tearing down the Hotel Penn, but after much arguement from everyone, the owners of the property decided against it.
