I've been searching far and wide for Windows Longhorn and finally just found an FTP server that actually has it!
I will send the ftp addy to anyone interested...
I would post it here but the files also include cracks and serials, a full package!!

and I know they don't want cracks and serials posted here.
The FTP server has Longhorn in RAR format broken into 36 parts...all you do is download all the parts and use WinRAR to put it all together.
After downloading it, I discovered that there were cracks and serials included, they even work for WinXP Pro SP1!!!!
Post your emails here and I will send you the link!

Now, why should we post our emails? You could tell us right now or PM us the download info. There's absolutely no need for any personal information to be handed to someone with 1 post.

That doesn't mean that he's a newbie one bit. All it says is he just signed up for ieXbeta... because they disabled guest posting and he wants to get longhorn!

LOL @ all the hotshots in here....

Ok, the only reason I was asking for emails was to try to abide by the forum's rules of not posting cracks and serials.
The copy of Longhorn I know of had a crack and serial included so I thought it to be wrong to post the FTP addy right on the board...but ok, you asked for it:
ftp://65.82.111.38/Tmp/Tex/upped%20by/%7E...7E%7E%7E%7E%7E/BTW, I'm not a newb by any means....so all you "hotshots" can stop walking around with your chests puffed out and try being helpfull by not putting crap in everyone's minds...k?
Also, here's proof that I have it and installed it successfully:

A couple things I did notice while installing...
I made the mistake of installing to the same partition as my WinXP Home(I thought it would give me the option to choose a seperate directory, NOT!)...one little pointer, install it on a seperate partition if you plan on just testing it rather than use it as your Primary(only) OS.
I originally wanted to keep my WinXP Home but I guess I f*ed that up and now I have an "upgraded" XP which is now Longhorn. No biggie though, I usually reinstall my OS every couple of months anyway, constantly testing shit ya know...
I used to have a triple-boot setup with MDK7.2, WinXP Home, and Win2K Pro...what a config that was!

The only problem is that Windows Update doesn't work, obviously since Longhorn isn't in production yet...it produces an error if I visit the Windows Update site. My audio driver doesn't work, need to find an AC97' audio driver that will work under Longhorn. Also, I need an updated driver for "SIS PCI to ISA Bridge". Once I get these working, it won'tbe so bad....otherwise, I'll just install the copy of WinXP Pro SP1 I have and crack that! LOL
hi,
is an error in the iso? i start the installation, type the serial, choose the partition, klick on continue an then i have the error
"An Error occured while copy files". Can everyone help me, please.
thx kay

If you install Longhorn, you must do so by booting from the Cd you burned from the iso. I had the same prob when I tried to run it directly from xp...

Ok, first off for the wise-asses (kronix)...Usually when you install a Windows product, you are given the option to install it to a directory of your choosing, especially if it detects that there is already an operating system on that particular partition...for instance, I once had Win98se installed in C:\windows and I wanted to install Win2k as well so I installed Win2K to C:\winnt and I was given a choice at bootup of which OS I wanted to boot with.
The Longhorn didn't ask for another install directory during the install process, yes it does install very fast (under 10 minutes for me) but it never asked about installing it to a seperate directory. It just went about it's business for about 10 minutes and upon rebooting I had an "upgraded" WinXP Home.
Now the way I was able to successfully do this:
1.) I used the newest version of WinRAR to extract the RAR files.
2.) I used Nero to burn the ISO to CD-R from the ISO image.
3.) I didn't even have to bootup with the CD, after burning it, I inserted it into my other CD drive and selected "Install Longhorn" at the selection screen. It asked for a CD-Key which I entered and then it went about it's business copying files to the hard drive and then asked to be rooted. Upon rebooting, it was installed.
Oh and who is the "fucknuts" who posted their email? Are you referring to me, because I don't recall posting my email anywhere in here....hmmmmmm

I have no idea what anyone is talking about... it does give you the option to select which partition you want it to install. Lastly, I didn't even have to make a cd. All I had to do was create the iso and then extract that and install on the regular win. xp GUI. The only problem I have encountered is that longhorn will not allow you to access your c:\ or main directory...hmmmm...

That's what I'm saying...It doesn't give you any option to install in another directory.
That's why I advise to install on a seperate partition.

indeed that is good advice, only if you want to keep your current install of windows (and you should), but the funny thing is, my copy did not let me install over xp, I had to format that partition first, I had a 6 gig partition with 1.5 gigs free, and it apparently it doesn't overwrite windows, it has to install on a clean partition, at least when booting from cd, thats what happened to me.

I'm gonna bet it wanted to format that partition in NTFS, right?

Apr 12 2003, 13:47
well, at first it did not let me do anything since it wasnt empty. I couldnt format or anything. Then I popped in a linux install cd and used cfdisk to format it with fat16. Then the longhorn setup saw it and it let me format it with ntfs. Could I have installed it on anything than ntfs, like fat32? if so, how, do I just leave the format with ntfs check box blank??
InHuman
Apr 12 2003, 17:01
Yes, what you would need is a Win98 startup disk with fdisk on it...you can then create a Fat32 partition and then perform a high-level format (format C:/s) and format the partition. Then when you go to install Longhorn, you just have it install to that partition and it "should" stay Fat32...

so what if he's showing that cd key.. its only a 14 day one anyway.
So, has anyone found a fix to the AC97 audio chipset problem? It does not work in Longhorn, and I have tried everything to install it. Anyone have any luck with that? Can install a diff chipset? I was reading on the Intel website that you can also install the Creative Sound Blaster driver and that could work on some motherboards. I installed Longhorn on my extra computer, an eMachines, so ya know... So, do you guys have any solutions? Thanks!

Well, apparently the FTP server I had posted at the start of this thread is down...either the owner or someone else shut it down.
I DO NOT KNOW of any other server carrying this distro other than whatever others have posted in this fine forum.
If you want the Longhorn download bad enuff, I would assume that you would perform a search on this forum and use the resources provided here to find it yourself, rather than looking for a "ticket to freedom" and have it handed to you on a silver platter.
I am currently working on creating my own distro package and maybe I'll have my own FTP up for you guys to download it but that may take a few days due to how busy I am. I am the system admin for a busy auto chain and have 14 dealerships on a shared T1 that I have to tend to and it doesn't leave me much time for extended play...but I will try and help as much as possible and as much as time allows.
Stay tuned, I will make it available in time...in the meantime, try searching for it on your own and post your findings here, not only to help yourself, but to help others as well seeing that's what forums are for!
