Dear God's,

I recently d/l Longhorn, I burnt the ISO, and installed from within XP, that got me to the Windows PE boot up, where it gave me an error. I was told to try installing from bootcd, which i did, and after typing in the serial, it gave me a line error with

d:\main\base\ntsetup\ui\downlevel\lmodule\propsheet.cpp:bResult
Seraphic
Well what did the error message say? Its like saying "fix my PC" and not giving details on what your problem is, specs, etc.
Nightwind Hawk
Dear Human,

It seems that you have some sort of missing or corrupted file in your download/bootcd. If you are stuck on the bootup for Windows PE, go into your other operating system if you still have it.

What is the error message for trying to boot into Windows PE?

Thanks.

I downloaded the Longhorn ISO from a ftp that was recently placed on this site, and it seems that most people havent had a problem with it, i would assume it is not corrupt, there is always a possibility. The PE problem i cant remember, but i kinda want to install it outside of XP, becuz each time i do it with there is always a problem. Can you suggest a site where i can get a possibly uncorrupt version, and ive tried all the links on this site and none work.

Corrupted files usally come from downloading. It was mis-communicated.

If you can get into XP, you have to tell us the error message! Somebody can send you a file to fix that without making you re-download everything. <----ANSWER THE Q.

If you can't remember, get back to that part and then tell us.

OK here is what the error says completely:

Assertion Failure at line 1103 in file
D:\main\base\ntsetup\ui\downlevel\lmodule\propsheet.cpp:bResult
Call Debug Break ()?

If you click yes it freazes, if u click no it doesnt give a choice where to install or nething so u can only basically move the mouse

.cpp thats a c++ source file, WTF?!?!
JoePacton
personally i would just forget it. We are very close to another build coming out so i would just wait.

Yes it is a source file hacnslash, and he mentioned that it in his original post. The standard C++ assertion will state the file and line number from the original source code, and it's not something that we can fix Nightwind_Hawk. This information is something Microsoft would use to back track the problem.

@frankjow: I would say take JoePacton's advice and give up on this 4008 build as maybe "4015", or whatever it ends up being, will work better for you.
hacnslash
that in case 4015 is real....i hope it is
Nightwind Hawk
Well, whoever has longhorn 4008, perhaps you could be kind enough to give him that file so it will be replaced and new wink2.gif

You can't give him the darn file "God"!!! The path is from the original source file back in Redmond, WA when Microsoft built 4008. It has now been compiled into an EXE/DLL/etc.

He also has the information from that file. Hence the assert. An assert means something the developer expected to be true is not, so the program bailed out rather than continue doing things in an unexpected manner.

In general, people need to understand that not everything can be blamed on a bad download. This is a pre-alpha OS and NOT all installations will go smoothly. If it does, good for you. If not, well there may be a workaround, but probably not, so wait for the next build and try again!

/me bows in homage to your programming genius. A true "God". Sorry _Hawk, you just got impeached. laugh.gif

I assert that I will wait for build 16,210, which will eliminate all problems.

Oh, an exception! Well that isn't anything we can fix, so you'll just have to wait for a newer build and try, try again.
