So you must be using another computer to get here I hope.....

What have you tried so far to obtain IP address? smile.gif

yup lol, im on a winxp machine right now.

ive done just about everything i can think of from trying to renew / release the ip, to removing all network connections from the properties and reinstalling them. so far no luck. im guessing something in the windows update somehow messed it up.

had the same problem on xp, had to reinstall os.

No, not windows update. I believe it was windows file protection which screws it up a lot.

Why don't you just uninstall the new items from Windows Update? Or did you not take note of what new stuff was applied? Usually can assume its the updates with the higher numbers, but that's not always true.

i actually tried uninstalling the update, but it didnt solve the problem.

windows device manager shows it as working properly, and the light on the back of the NIC card is also on, so it does recognize it. i really hope i dont have to reinstall because ive got to much stuff on there for school.
