would like to know which site engines are out there.
summin like virtuanews, but free to use.
i am totally n00b to this, state any programming skillz required to set them up (if at all this is applicable...
)

yep... started that right after I posted this. figured I would not have that much response here...
found two cool pages listing all kindsa script. looking for a content management system after all.

up to now found two engines which seem to be quite powerful:
http://www.xoops.org/modules/news/
http://tikiwiki.sourceforge.net/
both php based and free. no need for expensive server soft either...
any more?
