Put your xp disk in, and then gointo safe mode with a console (or if there is a console on the disk) boot into that. And use the ChkDsk command.
Tha Ghost
whats a console??
the sys admin
Reboot with XP disk and boot with the cd. Instead of hitting "Enter" hit "R" to enter "Recvoery Console." From there you should be able to run 'chkdsk' and anything else that would be necessary.

No offense, but this is one of the funniest things that I have heard in a long time. A console is a way to enter information manually, if you wanted a basic definition. I.E.::When in Windows you can open up a DOS Prompt, well, that's a console. It allos you to, in some ways, interact more directly with the OS.

maybe he's trying to say his pc doesnt support booting from cd?
rjz
Do a system repair. Use a floppy if you have to. Then do the emergency cd repair. If you can boot in to safemode go to run: sfc /scannow smile.gif
Tha_Ghost
well its NTFS and i tryed the safe mode and last known good configuration and it didnt work i get a message saying this

On the 24th, you said you fixed it.

Anyway, try a repair install through the console or take out the drive, and take it to a friend and backup your data you want to keep. Then format the thing. And for a future install, slipstream a new download of SP1 into XP and make a new disc.

Not a whole lot o' sympathy 'round these parts for people who lose data, I'm afraid.

Do the following:

*Do a repair install as had been recommended multiple times.

*BACK YOUR CRAP UP!!! You know how to do that much, right?

*Then spend some time learning how to use your computer so you don't get treated like a N00B.

Make sure that you learn from you mistakes here. Always make it a point to do a backup and store all your important data on a different partition other than your main OS. It will save you a lot of trouble and headache.
Tha_Ghost
its pretty bad people cant help another person with out gettin rude and if you guys gave more details on how to fix this i would have it fixed
Illrigger
More details? We assume you know how to read, but obviously over-estimate you. You want it spelled out?

1: Boot from Windows XP CD-ROM.
2: When it stops, type Enter, then F8, then R.
3: Follow prompts.

BTW, We aren't getting paid to help you or anyone else on this board, as many of us do in the real world. We do what we can here for free, but if you are too lazy to do a little searching to help yourself when you screw up your own computer, don't whine about the help you DO get. Go pay some local tech $100 an hour to fix it instead.
Kal-El
You are not going to get everything served upto you in a silver platter. The advice given by the members have to be complemented with your own friggin efforts if you want to troubleshoot your problem.
the sys admin
Lets all calm down now and let the thread die.

@Tha_Ghost:: All the advice was given in a pretty *nice* way, this forum expects people to be mature. Mature people can handle some crap flames. Also, you did say that it was fixed on the 24th.

Always remember to back things up, and google is a friend, use it wisely.
