im having trouble getting into the BIOS of my friends Presario 700 notebook. and we need to get in there to see if the FSB is up to par.... it used to run 1.2ghz and now the proc is running at 498mhz. :/ its a little odd if you ask me. but we think the last person to work on it might have reset the bios. and bios is software last time i checked so im asking here. thanks for any replies. aside from calling me a n00b. i know i am one with laptop BIOS' so thank i in the end thank you for reminding me

the processor could be stepping

i no longer think its a BIOS problem. i got into the bios. there is no options for FSB or anything in the options. I CAN CHANGE THE TIME THO :-D THATS ALWAYS GOOD!!!!. so now i think its a hardware problem...must fix...... so im just gonna keep zombie-ing away right now.....

maybe you download the newest BIOS Version and mod it to show you the FSB-Option

Are you sure Windows isn't slowing the processor down? Most laptops have power saving features enabled. Check in the control panel under power options. Make sure the power scheme is set to "Always On."
