well that thread shouldnt have been closed b/c there is no way to crack passworded rars and thus no way to discuss anything illegal

the entire file is changed based on the password, so there is nothing u can do but try every combination of letters and numbers until one works

there is a prog called advanced RAR password recovery, have a look for that on google

I agree. There was no reason for that thread to be closed. Cracking the password of RAR files is not illegal.

Advanced rar password recovery is a brute forcer. theres nothing that can "crack" a rar file. rar encryption and compression is superior and cannot be cracked.
You're only going to be able to get access to the contents of a password protected rar if your brute forcer guesses the password based on a word list which is mediocre at best.

You're only going to be able to successfuly pop the rar if the password was created by a moron and is a simple word and you're lucky enough to have that word in your list. But most lists dont take into account url's & alphanumeric passes etc. You can generate lots of alphanumeric passes to store in a list or even use dict lists in linux or something, but the odds of anyone actualy brute forcing what this guy is looking for is very improbable.
