I have an annoying problem burning movies in XP. I used Nero and Roxio 6.0. When encoding files from avi to vcd in all applications prior to burning, I get a blue stop error screen and computer reboots. I have all the latest firmware instaaled for burner as well as updates for Nero and Roxio. It even happens when I use video converting applications as well. Can anyone help me resolve this.

i would say that this is a hardware issue maybe the mobo or the RAM
try prime95 to test your pc´s stability

it might be a hardware problem......but it sounds more like a software issue to me. try installing Win XP from scrach...should do the trick

Been there, done that, still don't work.

What is the exact error on the BSOD?
nando
Some sort of STOP error with some numbers. Not up long enough to remember them. As soon as the BSOD comes up, it reboots.
Kal-El
Uncheck the option to reboot the computer in case of BSOD under system properties. This shud give you enough time to copy the error message. laugh.gif

The BSOD error is win32k.sys and an buch od letter and numbers following.
Kal-El
That bunch of letters and numbers is the core of the error message!

I'll record them and repost, Thanks Poppa
