I use
winDvd Recorder. It installs the dvd codec for me so WMP can decode DVD's....plus it allows me to record and time shift television easily and quickly.
If you want something to record and allow you to schedule similiar to Tivo and fuction like that you could go for
Beyond TV. I've never used it but the MaximumPC magazine in there November 2003 issue used it as their software of choice for PVR functions when it was called Personal Video Station 3. <---Edit sorry I noticed you mentioned this after I had already replied.
G/L and keep me informed as to what you choose. My capcard is down right now but I plan to buy a new one soon.
G.i.P
I just use my ATi AIW 9600 Pro. Does it all in one snap, TV, records, TIVO like recording, Dual monitors, and the list goes on.
Same thing here, Using ATI All In Wonder 7000 Pro 128mb video card and does everything I want. Has the ATI Launch Center with TV, Video Player, CD Player, TV Has recording which i can choose alot of formats, take screenshots all that. Had it for well over 2 years and hasent failed on me yet.
