If you would be interested in testing the new graphing calculator that we’ll be shipping with Encarta 2006, please sign up on BetaPlace using a GuestID of "CalcGuest06".
Taco Bell
@ninja812: Sounds interesting, so thanks man. Info. added to the initial post.

However, after trying it for myself, I don't see the direct tie in to Encarta, so where did you get that idea?

About Data Protection Manager

Designed to address the growing need for businesses of all sizes to easily recover data, Data Protection Manager will simplify and reduce the backup and recovery process.

More than 30 storage industry partners have announced their support for Data Protection Manager and their intent to work with Microsoft to provide customers with a broad choice of Windows-based storage solutions.

Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager provides several unique capabilities:

Rapid and reliable recovery through use of disk-based backup allows IT administrators and end users to recover data in minutes instead of hours.
Continuous, efficient protection allows data to be backed up without impacting IT infrastructure.
Integration with tape through a backup interface that is based on the Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) API included in Windows Server 2003 will allow tape backup partners to address customer needs for backup and recovery in Windows-based environments.
Best value is provided by reducing labor costs traditionally associated with backup and recovery scenarios. DPM runs on industry standard hardware and software, providing easier management and usability, and seamless integration within current Windows environments.
More information on Data Protection Manager is available at http://www.microsoft.com/dpm.

Please e-mail XXXX@microsoft.comwith any questions.

Regards,
DPM Beta Team

Yeah you had to be @ WinHEC to sign up for it.

Edit* You didn't had to be @ WinHEC to sign up for it, although there was an opportunity to sign up for it.
Microshit
Well not only WinHEC, I really cant go into specifics but WinHEC was the main way to get into LH, so yes smile.gif
Major Deegan
Anyone get invited into Student 2006 beta yet? I SO want a copy of Encarta
Microshit
are you testing just to get freebies ! the shame... sad.gif
kingkong316
No I didn't get into Student 2k6 yet but I did get into the calc. I must say that Student Calc 2k6 must be the most bug free beta I have ever seen.
ImSkiZZer
Talking about WinHec being the way in to Longhorn.... I agree. I had to cancel last minute due to health issues. But the Longhorn Beta is coming pretty darn soon.... I can smell it.... So stay tuned friends!

.... Oh wait... that was the salmon I just was putting into a marinade... my bad... I can't smell Longhorn.... but I know it's coming... cool2.gif
kingkong316
rolleyes.gif Can I call you Mister Corn Dog? Yes but I agree the beta should be coming around soon. But how soon will a low level beta tester like me get to it? Probably a while.

Yeah I haven't gotten into the Student 2k6. But have been in the calc for a while. The calc is a tough cookie to find a bug on too.
shooter468
im getting this message whenever itry to apply to a beta

InActive Account - You are no longer an Active User on the Microsoft Beta System.
Taco Bell
@OutlandishTrendz/shooter468: I've never heard of that, but from the message, but it sounds like your accounts were simply removed due to inactivity. That is unless just some sort of problem with their system, and the message is erroneous.

I would try e-mailing the MS beta manager about it and see what they say. Unfortunately, I don't have the address handy, but when I got home later, I will see if I can look it up.

In the meantime, look through your various beta-related e-mails for such contact information and good luck. clover.gif

Nah I think they changed the ID as it got out so quickly. I just tried it, it says the same thing for me, but I can still access the other beta program I'm in.
