Sometimes they leave betas open for future testing. You can email bpsup@microsoft.com and ask them if the beta is finished.
F.e., longhornsurvey seems dead, but I was told it would last til sometime next year (2006).
Also, MSI31 beta is still active and the occasionally release updates/docs.
Taco Bell
Jun 10 2005, 01:06
@Andareed: Yes, they sometimes do that. However, I was a member of the Microsoft Update 6 beta, and believe me, they're done man.
Besides, if they were to pick it up again with say, Microsoft/Windows Update 7, then they would release another guest ID at that point anyway.

what is the gust ide about the sms about windows update?..
annnndddd when can i get OneCare to download?...
3 times that i wanna be tester no answer

they say that just who live in the us can used... grr!!!
Heart_Attack
Jun 20 2005, 21:48
@ScooBoy: The sms inventory for microsoft update is a new function for SMS. and OneCare is beta members only right now (and that is even only if you are selected), so unless someone betrays MS (which I doubt in this case, specially not me) then you'll have to wait and pay 90 bucks a year for it. sorry

Ruthless Ruthless all of you. Even when the guest ID for LH is releaed it is going to be a bitch and a half to get into.
yeah it was a joke peoples you havent missed the beta

and yeah, im aware that the real BetaID will have 0% relativity to the words "Windows Codename Longhorn Beta 1"

Just a question, am I only allowed to sign up for one beta at a time? After signing up for the WS2k3R2 beta (which doesn't have any open spots), it's not giving me a place to enter other ID's anymore
Heart_Attack
Jun 22 2005, 19:11
you'll have to log out and log back in, clicking the guest id link again. it's a pain, yes, but that's how it's set up

you can apply for as many as you want, but only one per login. here's an example:
my theoretical user name is :User
my theoretical password is :Password
I log into "User" account, go to guest ID and put it in, take the survey, then log out. Then, I log into "User" again, go to guest ID, put in a different one, take the survey, then log out. I do this until i'm done, then just wait for microsoft to send me emails telling me which ones i've been accepted into. personally, i'm currently in 5 different betas. i hope this answers your question
also, instead of logging out, you can hit the "back" button until you get to the guest id page again and put it in that way, then you don't have to log out.

Heart_Attack
Jun 29 2005, 22:31
1: your english is pretty good for an Israelie, so don't sweat it

2: your email probably had 2 "IDs" in it. one of them would be you're Beta ID, and it'd be 6 numbers (123456) and the other would most likely be the guest id and it can vary in how many characters it has. you may want to go over the email again and see if you are inputing you're Beta ID (which is like you're microsoft id number) or the actual beta guest id.
edit: spell check
