This is a pre-release version of the Microsoft Device Emulator. This software is not suitable for use in any critical operating environment. This software is not supported by Microsoft Product Support Services.

To join the beta and provide invaluable feedback to the designers,
please do the following -
1. Go to http://beta.microsoft.com
2. Login in with your passport id.

7 June - Microsoft Update Beta Program has ended

FYI wink2.gif

WUBetaReq is probably done.
Taco Bell
@Heart_Attack: Yes, Microsoft Update 6 has most certainly been released, so I've removed the guest ID accordingly.
Andareed
Sometimes they leave betas open for future testing. You can email bpsup@microsoft.com and ask them if the beta is finished.

F.e., longhornsurvey seems dead, but I was told it would last til sometime next year (2006).

Also, MSI31 beta is still active and the occasionally release updates/docs.
Taco Bell
@Andareed: Yes, they sometimes do that. However, I was a member of the Microsoft Update 6 beta, and believe me, they're done man.

Besides, if they were to pick it up again with say, Microsoft/Windows Update 7, then they would release another guest ID at that point anyway.
ScooBoy
what about Avalanche?

som1 have te gust ide?

http://research.microsoft.com/%7Epablo/avalanche.htm
Heart_Attack
WOOHOO! got accepted into SQL 05, Virtual Server 05, and SMS Tool for Microsoft Updates! I'm excited cause I could use the latter two, and always wanted to play with SQL. I'm just so excited biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

PS: @ScooBoy: if it isn't posted in the first post, chances are that no one has posted the guest id yet, so i'm gonna have to say you're just gonna have to wait. you can always subscribe to the topic so that when someone does post an id, you get it right away wink2.gif
ScooBoy
TY!!

what is the gust ide about the sms about windows update?..

annnndddd when can i get OneCare to download?...

3 times that i wanna be tester no answer sad.gif

they say that just who live in the us can used... grr!!!
Heart_Attack
@ScooBoy: The sms inventory for microsoft update is a new function for SMS. and OneCare is beta members only right now (and that is even only if you are selected), so unless someone betrays MS (which I doubt in this case, specially not me) then you'll have to wait and pay 90 bucks a year for it. sorry
JavaSpain
Longhorn Guest ID?
Singh400
@JavaSpain, Your kiddin right? You'll know when MS release a Longhorn GuestID - believe me they'll be tons of topics about it.

LOL LH05B1... Longhorn '05 Beta 1

He is just messing with you...
kingkong316
Ruthless Ruthless all of you. Even when the guest ID for LH is releaed it is going to be a bitch and a half to get into.
Hasin
yeah it was a joke peoples you havent missed the beta tongue.gif

and yeah, im aware that the real BetaID will have 0% relativity to the words "Windows Codename Longhorn Beta 1" wink2.gif
ahanix1989
Just a question, am I only allowed to sign up for one beta at a time? After signing up for the WS2k3R2 beta (which doesn't have any open spots), it's not giving me a place to enter other ID's anymore
Heart_Attack
you'll have to log out and log back in, clicking the guest id link again. it's a pain, yes, but that's how it's set up
ahanix1989
Well, am I allowed to enroll at more than one at a time

Yes.
Heart_Attack
you can apply for as many as you want, but only one per login. here's an example:

my theoretical user name is :User
my theoretical password is :Password

I log into "User" account, go to guest ID and put it in, take the survey, then log out. Then, I log into "User" again, go to guest ID, put in a different one, take the survey, then log out. I do this until i'm done, then just wait for microsoft to send me emails telling me which ones i've been accepted into. personally, i'm currently in 5 different betas. i hope this answers your question

also, instead of logging out, you can hit the "back" button until you get to the guest id page again and put it in that way, then you don't have to log out.
taifunk
You can sign up to as many betas as you wish.
DarkEX
Hello,

I'd just like to inform you that the "Longhorn Command Shell" beta has now officially been changed to "Longhorn Command Preview (Monad)". Dont know if you want to change it or not, but wanted to let you know.
Taco Bell
@DarkEX: Actually, the official name is now "Microsoft Command Shell" with a codename of "Monad", but I've gone ahead and updated the initial post anyway.
ScooBoy
hi ppl

i nees som help pliz

microsiht send me email withe a- gust id

and i try to log on withe the gust id and.. pofff ERROOOO!!!!!

grrr angry.gif why?

the gus id is numbers..
Taco Bell
@ScooBoy: Try again in 24 hours in case it's just a delay between the e-mail going out and the guest ID fully taking effect.
ScooBoy
i gotta the mail about a week ago...
Heart_Attack
did you send them a reply, asking why it isn't working? that has helped me with other beta tests, but i've never had that problem with microsoft.
ScooBoy
ok my english sucks

so..

i u got mail withe gust id but numbers????
Heart_Attack
1: your english is pretty good for an Israelie, so don't sweat it wink2.gif

2: your email probably had 2 "IDs" in it. one of them would be you're Beta ID, and it'd be 6 numbers (123456) and the other would most likely be the guest id and it can vary in how many characters it has. you may want to go over the email again and see if you are inputing you're Beta ID (which is like you're microsoft id number) or the actual beta guest id.

edit: spell check
ScooBoy
TY

i got just numbers!... and it's not working
Taco Bell
@ScooBoy: Would you be willing to share a copy of the e-mail, so we can see exactly what you are talking about?
Merkava
private message me if you want to explain it in hebrew
Taco Bell
@Merkava: Nice thought man, but ScooBoy's a Rookie. Therefore PMs are not an option at this point, and he'd have to go with an IM or e-mail instead.
