Go to
the Microsoft Beta web site to sign up for the ones you want.
NOTE: If you are a new to beta testing, then you can use the Guest ID
BetaReq--after signing in with your .NET Passport ID. You can then fill out a general survey about yourself, your machine, and your habits. Submit the survey and wait. Microsoft will notify you when they have a beta for you to test. Most questions about this are answered at the
About Microsoft Beta page.
I would appreciate it if anyone can contribute to this list. Especially with rare Guest IDs to beta programs that are still running.
I thank everyone who has given and continue to give new additions to this list. Every contribution helps those who view this list.
BetaPlace will be phased out sometime in the near future. Definitely a sad thing to know when looking in retrospect at the creation of this list. Hopefully we'll benefit from other's contributions to get into new testing opportunities and new beta testers will find this as a new hobby regardless of what Microsoft decides. - CK13 (22Oct05)
Last update: November 11 (removed Windows (Package) Installer 6.2--WinInstBeta)
Ah, Great! We got a newly updated list thanks to you

But would recommend taking the ones that doesnt work anymore.

Ah yes, the currently pinned post is a pain in the backside having to search through it all looking for ID's, it really needed updated but oh well there's a new list now.

Just let me know which ones don't work and I'll put *Not Working* near each one, and I'll put as *New*.

Well RedTerror13, you jumped the gun on my plans of waiting until February, but I appreciate your enthusiasm. I'll double check your current list later tonight and go back through the
the old post in the next few days to make sure you didn't miss any. **title/description edited & topic pinned**
---
The following guest IDs were either outright invalid -or- did not come up with a program listing and have therefore been removed from the original post:
- MSN 8.5--MSN85BETA {It's been released!}
- Microsoft Office 11 (Old)--GEXTSU {It's been released!}
- Windows Messenger 5--WINM5BETA {It's been released!}
- Media Center Update Beta US--mcebetaus
- Media Center Update Beta UK--mcebetauk
- Media Center Update Beta GER-mcebetaGER
Well my guest ID checking got interrupted due to problems on the Microsoft server, so I'll have to try again later.
I don't think it's designed to handle all these attempts in a row.

---
Got back to trying this again and removed the following additional guest IDs:
- HIS 2004 beta--HISuser
- PCSatisfaction Trial--PCSATTRIAL
- MSIB 2.0 Beta--MSIBBeta
- Deployment Accelerator--BDDTechEd
- Microsoft Reliability Service Trial Release--mrstrial
- PDA Voice Command--VoiceCommandReq
That takes care of the current list.

Thanks for the pin. I figured I'd make it easy for people to see.
May also want to edit the post to include something like... View:
Beta.Microsoft.comor
Go To
Beta.Microsoft.com to sign up for the ones you want.
This is to make it easier on the users without them having to Open up a new window and typing in the address manually or having to type it in the current window and then loosing the guest id he/she was wanting then having to go back to reload the topic. What do ya think?
btw... This Guest ID doesnt work either may want to remove it...

If anyone has comments/suggestions/complaints, please post them here. I would ask that any avid beta tester help me out with adding and deleting MS Beta Guest IDs.
Microsoft Encarta 2005 beta has already been shipped.
Taco Bell
Apr 15 2004, 21:35
Well the announcement of Encarta's beta participants, and in turns its availability, was just made today Derek, but yeah indeed the beta has "shipped".
Also, as suspected then, the guest ID doesn't work anymore, so I've removed it (Microsoft Encarta 2005--EncartaBetaGuest).

by cavallopazzovr
good to see you guys are back
anyway, Windows update 5 is available to everyone,
http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ and I don't see a point in having WU 4 unless im missing something.
Taco Bell
Jul 23 2004, 13:31
@Derek: Not sure where we went, but in any case we all know about WU5, but it's still beta in terms of its functionality & content, so there is a point.

Jul 24 2004, 03:20
Is there one for symphony?
Taco Bell
Jul 24 2004, 04:02
@OutlandishTrendz: There was, but it doesn't work anymore and hasn't since February.
Dutch2005
Jul 26 2004, 18:43
well Wu5 might be in BETA yet its already in RC2, (same as win XP sp2 rc2, wich some people say its the version that will be RTM

) so good change this RC2 of WU5 will get RTM also
Taco Bell
Jul 26 2004, 19:11
@Dutch2004: Yeah, I know and that may be, but I won't remove it until MS does. After all, they may need beta testers beyond the RTM to cover some additional improvements et al.
well, I don't expect the WUv5 beta to end after it goes RTW. After all, the Windows update v4 program is still running, 3 years after its release with Windows XP now

Jul 27 2004, 03:13
RTW?
GCNaddict
Jul 27 2004, 03:53

RTW?

You are the kind of people who bring this board down, he made A SIMPLE spelling error, you dont have to spam the board, if you didnt know that he meant rtm then I dont know wtf are you doing here?
CrimsonKnight13
Jul 27 2004, 13:28
Lay off, Microshit. You are acting quite foolish. All I wanted was clarification and you make it explode into a full assault insult to his abilities. I was not spamming, so don't judge based on one simple question.
Microshit
Jul 27 2004, 14:48
I never see you online and its people like you who really brought this board down, we are trying to fix this board from stupid comments...

it wasn't a spelling error, I meant RTW when I wrote it.
RTW = Release to Web, because what exactly would you be manufacturing when WU is ready to go live?
therefore, his question was valid and your flaming of him was out of line.
And flaming, my friends, is what is bringing this board down.
CrimsonKnight13
Jul 27 2004, 23:13
Microshit, flaming me simply makes you the fool. I had no prior quarell with you but now you just made an enemy in doing so. Hope you enjoy your life if I ever do decide to be a thorn in your side.
ynotm, I appreciate that you clarified the subject in question.

Varolmak

not yet....should be pretty soon, though, because the fall annual betas will start coming. Patience, GCN
You can delete the GuestID money05 from the list
From the Beta Site:

We are no longer taking testers for the Money 05 beta. Thank you.
Edit: GuestID MSNOLC looks gone, too. When u login there is no beta survey.
Taco Bell
Jul 30 2004, 13:38
@Tribble: Okay, I'll take care of money05 then.
I also noticed that previously with MSNOLC , but was waiting for MS to pull it just in case it got re-used or became available again. In the meantime though, I'll strike it out.
money05 was an old beta, they sent me money 2005 cds in the june and july 30th they will release internel final version to download from web and that means beta is almost over.
Varolmak
Jul 30 2004, 14:37
Taco, I just wanted to clarify that OLC is out and gone. It's was renamed MOOS, and it is in the 9.1 version of MSN Premium. We went final yesterday.

This probably is a common question i guess, but the guest id for Windows Longhorn, does anyone know it? These guest id's have helped alot before, i am a betatester for Winsp2, LH Command shell and winupdate v5 already.
Taco Bell
Aug 9 2004, 15:16
@martbigz: The Longhorn beta won't begin until sometime in 2005, so Microsoft has NOT supplied us with a guest ID for it as of yet.
When they do though, believe me, it will big news, so you won't miss it.
