I am loving Firefox. Except I can't stand opening a new window for every link I click on. I know you can get extensions that will open a new tab for an external link, but where is one that works.
I got one, and I can't uninstall it (i dont know how), and it doesnt function.
Anyone else have this problem, or a solution?

Uh, <CTRL> + CLICK opens links in a new tab... and so does Middle-Mouse Clicking. You don't need an extension to do this (if this is what you were asking about).
Hope it helps.
If your mouse has a scroll button (wheel) click the link with it, since it will open the link in a new tab.

http://texturizer.net/firefox/extensions/#tbeTabbrowser Extension is what I use and it works just fine.

Is there an external Unistall feature on Extensions? one or 2 that I downloaded had it built in, the others, did not

Cool....
Other question. How do I get the brower to recognize things copied to the clipboard...
For example, on
PacketNews, it loads IRC... but the link doesnt get copied to the clipboard.
(I know alot of these are n00b questions, I'm new to open source browsers)

You mean when a site uses code to put something in the clipboard (TinyURL, for instance)? I think that only works in IE because it requires ActiveX.

Has anyone had problems with getting Firefox to save a file from a link?
I've tried in Yahoo Groups, and it always give an error like "The link could not be saved. The web page might have been removed or had its name changed."
I've looked through the extensions, but I'm not having alot of luck. Any ideas?
no probs with that at all. does it work in IE with the same links? because maybe they are honestly borked.

I found a solution to the firefox question, about IRCSPY and packetnews.com.
When you click on a link, it opens IRC, but doesn't copy the link to the clipboard.
**WARNING. SECURITY RISK****
You need to enable access to UniversalXPConnect to do this follow the following
directioins. Note that this will give some websites additonal access to your
local computer settings.
Type about:config into the URL bar
into the filter box type signed
this will leave you with just this item
signed.applets.codebase_principal_support | Default | Boolean | False
double click on this and type true into the box that appears.

Same here. I forced single browser mode, and changed the default option of opening a link in the background so i'm getting it back again in the foreground. 100% satisfied with this extension.
