To Install Internet Information Services (IIS):

To install Internet Information Services on Windows XP:


1. On the Start menu, choose Run.

2. In the Open dialog box, type appwiz.cpl, and then click OK to open the

3. Add/Remove Programs dialog box; you can also access this dialog box from the Control Panel.

4. In the Add/Remove Programs dialog box, choose Add/Remove Windows Components on the left side of the dialog box.

5. In the Windows Component Wizard, check Internet Information Services (IIS).

6. Choose Next to begin installing IIS.

7. Click Finish when installation is complete.

8. Close the Add/Remove Programs dialog box.


Install FrontPage Server Extensions (FPSE):

To install FrontPage Server Extensions on Windows XP:


1. On the Start menu, choose Run.

2. In the Open dialog box, type appwiz.cpl, and then click OK to open the

3. Add/Remove Programs dialog box.

4. In the Add/Remove Programs dialog box, choose Add/Remove Windows
Components on the left side of the dialog box.

5. In the Windows Component Wizard, select Internet Information Services (IIS).

6. With Internet Information Services (IIS) selected, choose Details.

If FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions are not already selected, check the check box.

7. Click OK to close the Internet Information Services (IIS) box.

8. Choose Next to begin installing.

9. After installation completes, click Finish to close the Windows Component Wizard.


Configure FrontPage Server Extensions (FPSE):

To configure FrontPage Server Extensions on Windows XP:

1. On the Start menu, choose Run.

2. In the Open dialog box, type compmgmt.msc \s, and then click OK to open the

3. Computer Management dialog box.

4. In the Computer Management dialog box, expand Services and Applications.

5. Under Services and Applications, expand Internet Information Services.

6. Under the Internet Information Services, expand Web sites.

7. Right-click Default Web Site, choose All Tasks, and then choose Configure Server Extensions.

Note: You can skip to Install Security Updates below if the Configure Server Extensions menu command is missing. If the Configure Server Extensions menu command is missing, then FrontPage Server Extensions are already installed and configured.

8. Choose Next on the first page of the Server Extensions Configuration Wizard.

9. Choose Yes in the Warning dialog box.

10. Choose No for configuring the mail server settings, and then choose Next.

11. Choose Finish.


Note: I found this little guide on the Microsoft Visual Basic .net 2003 Cd-Rom. I know people would like an easy guide on how to install IIS and FP Server Extentions. smile.gif

Yeah hopefully it'll be useful to some people. Most people can install it, they just can't configure it.

@MoshNet: I'm surprised you're looking at it after this reply, but what OS and is it XP Professional instead of the lesser XP Home?

ugh. IIS is crap..its so horrible, that it could even fuck up a wet dream! lmao. Use Apache. mmmm LAMP (Linux Apache MySQL PHP)...mmmm gentoo linux.....emerge phpmyadmin...all done...
