Been on a server from the famous chat prog "mIRC" and i got hacked! angry.gif
Probably by a Trojan Horse i didnt know because i was at work at the time and was downloading. Got back and my pc was full of bot files!!
Anyway the problem is that i got no more access to my directory:
c:\documents and settings\username

I'm running a backup of windows now so i wan't to access that folder to get everything back that was on my previous desktop and My documents folder i used!

Please any help how to access that folder again???

go to my computer, folder option, view, uncheck simple file sharing.

go to that folder of yours, right click on it, property, security, add your current account and gain permissions and replace it with your account.

if you confused, tell me where.

You might need to retake ownership.

You might need to run several removers as well as the usual 2 bot catching programs.

Use knoppix or one of the live cds, mount the drive and copy the files from that directory to a new directory outside of the c:\documents and settings\username
directory tree.

Linux doesnt recognize windoze permissions so it ignores them.

ever think of going to a previous restor point?

You didn't specify what OS you're using though.

That's what I posted and removed. The problem is a lot of the things in Documents and Settings are excluded from System Restore, so it probably won't help much.

I'm using xp and the problem is i cant run the other version anymore because it wont start up. Im using another HD with a different windows.
