I was wondering if there is anyway to get another file system on cd something like fat32 or ntfs, i got a software that can format floppy disk with ntfs which useful if you need to apply encryption or something. any ideas if there is anyway work around to get these sysytem file on cd instead of cdfs or udf ?
I don't think you can but, one thing that might help is to make a rar or zip file on your cd and password it.

well perhaps it COAN be done, i think you must do something (perhaps just to windows) so it things its a ZIP drive/removable hdd, and that the writer just writes the file system on "hdd format"
if ya know some thing about programming i think it can be done, yet how? i dunno

prob with some win32api callin orso

I dont really know anything so this is just me trying to be smart and guess. But, surely any series of bits can be written to any media, if the software which controls the device is programmed correctly. I guess all you need is a driver to do the job (maybe firmware, im not sure what level the data is converted to computer files on cds). You would ofcourse need to do the same to burn the files to begin with. Custom burning software or modified drivers (and possibly firmware).

I have another quistion for all of you guys, its related to the same topic i noticed that in easy cd media 7 its burn cds with udf format as the default one and the most strange thing is this format is dtected fine by windows 2000 without installing any burning utlities or any drives for udf, is that mean that win2k have native support for udf ? and how about 98 or ME is it have the same ? i didnt have enough time this week to try this, but i like to know if its compatible so i can make all my next cds in udf instead of ISO and its extention Joliet or even Romio

ok I'm not 100% on this, but ISO is not the actual format of the CD is it? I thought it was just the file format that is stored on your hard disk to represent a CD that you could mount virtually or burn.
The two formats i know of are:
CDFS - Compact Disk File System
&
UDF - Universal Disk Format
ISO is as far as i know just the same as BIN and CUE combo or a nero binary, nothing to do with the actual format of the CD

hm well i think it is it just a "zipped" version of all the filez that will be put on the disk and some info for the file system (what kind of file system that must be burned on it, so maybe never tried it, if ina iso the filesystem is Saved also, ya might be able to 1st write a NTFS filesystem on it (or whatever) and then put the filez on it (with a rewriteable cd/dvd it would be a mini lightweight portable hdd

RAR archives can store NTFS permissions as far as I know, you could just use that if its what you need
