Hey guys, my ex girlfriend is having a strange windows IE problem. She says certain websites never load, they just keep trying to load and her browser doesn't even time out. The same pages do it over and over and she can't figure out how to fix the problem and I'm not to sure what advice to give her other than to scan for viruses and make sure she has all of her updates. She is running WindowsXP Home if that helps.

If you guys have any suggestions that I can relay to her that don't require me to spend more than 5 minutes stepping her though it, I'll be ecstatic HAHA, any suggestions are welcome. Thanks as always guys!

Try deleting all temporary internet files and cookies. wink.gif

It may be a problem with the WYSIWYG editor used with Internet Explorer. It's simple to fix, as long as she doesnt have dial up. Install a new instance of internet explorer. Also, when the page is loading, when you notice it hangs, just press the "stop" button, then refresh. Another idea is to download netscape navigator, or mozilla firefox, they are great programs. Also, like said before, try deleting your cookies, temp files, cache, and look at her security settings. They should be around medium.

Internet explorere 6 download

Netscape navigator 7

Mozilla Firefox

Also, some ad-ware, and the such will "hijack" internet explorer. I would recommend downlaoding spy bot search and destroy, and loading the internet explorer resident.

Other wise, Im clueless. I've had my browser hang before, but it's usally because I'm on dialup, and it cant drink enough data, so it just stops itself. Usually a refresh works.

First try deleting you cookies, cache, temp. then try searching for spyware ad-ware, then download new browser.
