i started to install windows on my 160gb SATA HDD (its the only one in my pc)
it said there was no HDD in my computer, i checked my bios but in my bios it saw the hdd?? does anybody know how to get XP on my HDD?

You need to load the drivers from the floppy that came with your mobo/SATA controller when you start the install. Hit F6 and keep tapping it right after you start booting from the CD. This will bring up a prompt for the floppy with the drivers.

?

you may need to copy the contents of the folder with the SATA drivers from the CD you get with the mobo. Some manufacturers are lazy like that *cough* Gigabyte

question(sorta related): what's wrong with the comp if you get a BSoD during the Windows setup(at the same spot over and over) OR Linux installation says there's no disk using an SATA or a PATA disk?

note: HD and mobo is brand new ~ Maxtor 80GB SATA and Abit IC7-Max3
