Both Symantec and Kaspersky A-virus update file is downloadable from owners site. But what about Mcafe's ver 8 update file...? Dat file from http://download.mcafee.com/uk/updates/superDat.asp?real=0 is for ver 5, 6, 7...
Could someone tell about update DAT, to update ver 8 without filling and sending a REGISTRATION form?

Are less the enterprise version use the same dat files as the version 4.5, 6 , 7 and 8..

I get pissed when I have to use their web-based stuff

Guess what -- I can't install VirusScan 8, because it uses an HTML installer interface, and I get a "This page cannot be displayed!"

Here's a hint: WISE. InstallShield. Use them. Stop all this subscription crap. I paid $30 for a virus scanner, I shouldn't have to sign up to keep it working.

Unfortunatly that's what you get for buying their home user crap. Obtain a corp version, they are MUCH better. There is a free beta out right now for Virusscan Enterprise 8 which is great. http://www.networkassociates.com/us/downlo.../vse/VSE80i.htm
