Ive got a 40gb hard drive
and it is split into 3
C - Drive 21.8gb (NTFS )
D - Drive 12.9gb (NTFS )
E - Drive 2.43gb (FAT32 )

C and D drive are my main drive E is just for recover ( files )

Ive got this Partition magic 8 program and just wanted to know if i combine c and d will i lose any files ?
2nd - ive got programs on D drive, after doing the combine can i stilll run these programs ?

I believe to combine, one of the partitions would have to be formatted wouldn't it? I guess I could be wrong. Either way, your programs on D: would probably have to be reinstalled because when you go to open it, the system won't be able to find it because it's *like* its been moved to an entirely different drive.

Partition Magic will merge your partitions back into one no problem.

The contents of your other partition will be added to a folder on your
merged drive.

You will not need to format any drives.

btw, I guess I missed when it became Norton Partition Magic 8?

PM8 will combine both drives into the one [C Drive] without formatting or loss of any files.

Any shortcuts that reference files that were on D Drive will not work [although Windows will try to find the new location and correct them for you] and programs that were on D [and are now on C] will probably still run OK provided they do not link or reference files outside their own subdirectory or use Registry info that is drive related.

Similarly, any programs that were on C and referenced files on D Drive or used Registry info that referred to Drive D will probably not work as the path to them no longer exists. The old D Drive has gone and probably been replaced with what was your old E Drive.

I just doubt if it will merge a primary partition with a logical partition (insdie an extended) one of course.
