I just got the creative 7.1 speaker system but almost all of the audio that I play is only 2 channel audio and only comes out 2 of the speakers because of it. I need and audio converter that can change 2 channel audio into 7.1 audio so that it will come out all of the speakers. Know of any? Please post back to this, thanks.

if you have a soundblaster sound card you can, just enable CMSS or CMSS 2.

i think its called BeSweetGUI. u can use this to convert audio to ac3 and I think u should be able to get a 7.1 plugin for it.

edit: sorry i had a brain lapse ac3 is only 5.1 i think sad.gif

I do have a sound balster sound card and when I enable CMSS (which I dont even know what it stands for) it comes out of all of the speakers except the front center speaker. If it would just also come out of the front center speaker then everything would be awesome.
Chris
If you play it thru foobar theres a plugin in the dsp manager called Simple surround, enable that..

try going into the THX console (if u have an audigy2 card or higher) or the speakers settings, and do the noise test, make sure that all speakers can be heard. also make sure it's set up as 7.1 as well, and wouldn't hurt to see if 7.1 is enabled in windows as well.

I figured it out. I am running an audigy2 card and all I had to do was go into the EAX settings and enable cmss through that then check the stereo 3D or Stereo Surround options. Thanks everyone for all of your help.

CMSS=Creative Multichannel Surround Sound (or something like that)
On my extigy and 4.1 speakers it works fine (although it drains the bass a little) what it does is just plays the FL and FR channels through the BL and BR. If you got the front channel working through the Creative Audio Mixer (not the windows one) then it'll mix FL and FR into FC

there's no need to convert the files to a 5.1 AC3 (although having the AC3 decoder light come on when you play standard mp3's looks kinda impressive (hey i got the original recording tongue.gif ))
