Hi all, once in a while I would notice a serious slowdown and would check my task manager and see that my explorer.exe is running at 98% - 100%?!?! My current specs are Pentium 4-2.8Ghz @ 800Mhz FSB with 2Gigs of Dual RAM @ 800Mhz. I would notice this when I would use my Newsreader while viewing videos and streamed video of news. Is there a known flow in XP or a known memory leak or something?? I also have SP2 installed.. Just curious if anyone has had a similar problem?? Thanks in advance for any and all of your help/input..

I've heard alot of people are having problems like that with SP2, maybe google could help you fix it or something wink.gif
I reformated and then installed SP2, maybe for the people who had SP1 and then install SP2 over it have that problem, I dunno, good luck.

i haven't had that problem ... one thing i have noticed (this could be the updated audigy 2 drivers for my platinum as well) is that when playing music and say, moving a large file from one drive to another, i experience pops and crackles when i move the mouse around on the screen. not sure what causes this, but it didn't used to do that.

Thanks guys for your replies.. Well, I did do a fresh install with SP2 slipstreamed and it just started happening. It also happens when I do move files to and from 1 partition to another when I am using the Media player as well.. After a reboot, everything is fine.. Weird, just weird..

well, explorer.exe is the windows shell and as we all know, microsoft just loves to abuse people's computers once in a while. as for the videos, this may be normal if you use IE as your browser to watch them (streaming media required alota cpu power)
