<img style="float: right" src="http://www.iexbeta.com/images/news/logos/iexMicrosoft.png">Microsoft Corp. will allow governments around the world that use its software to have controlled access to the source code for its pervasive Microsoft Office 2003 desktop offerings for the first time.

The Redmond, Wash., software maker on Monday in Europe will detail how it is going to give access to the code, an expansion of the existing Government Security Program, or GSP, via a new Government Shared Source License for Office.

Actually Nightwind, the Windows source code has been under a similar arrangement for awhile now and I can't say that it's leaked.

Well I believe that was under different circumstances than the gov't arrangement, but that's true the1337est. I had momentarily forgotten about that.

As far as I'm aware many governments have access to the windows source code and the only leak there has been is for nt/2k on a completely unrelated matter, which is rather surprising as you would expect a few bad apples in the top brass. I guess there's no reason to expect leaks of office source due to this.
