Full Version: Software for setting computer in different modes?
ieXbeta Board > Tech > Software Corner
Gabe
My friend has a program to set your computer in certian modes for whatever your doing, say browsing the internet, playing games, or whatever else. I cant get in touch with him and I wondered if you guys know any programs for doing that.

Never heard of any such software. A computer doesn't really need it, a computer runs in one "mode" only and that is - do anything.

Side Note:
The only thing I can think you mean is a program to apply tweaks to get the most out of a system doing certain tasks. But as you only actively do one task at a time (Play a game for example) the computer shoves any other tasks in the page file and leaves it until later. So its not worth it unless your PC is slow (but then what are you doing trying to run higher performace games). Also i'm sure the process of applying tweaks and rebooting etc would be quite an annoyance / inefficient.

Was the proggie Hare? blink.gif

Accelerate games
With a set of pre-programmed instructions compatible with nearly all PC games, GameZap will increase your game's frames per second by near 10% in most cases. And GameZap is compatible with OpenGL!

instead of using a proggie why not have different users and tweak accordingly.

ie: no wallpaper or themes in yur gaming system, no antivirus, disable ethernet connection, etc. for gaming

ie: themes, antivirus, popup blocker, firewall for surfing.

Also go to blackviper.com and tweak yur service.

I've never been much of a fan of speed-up utilities. IMHO I feel you can get better performance by taking the time and knowing yur system and tweaking according to need.

Anyway just my 2 cents for anyone who comes across this thread.

Like they say opinions are like assholes. Everyones got one. Obviously I have both lick.gif

LOL, you think that's bad, you should see the interface once you have Mod rights. I keep editing OTHER users posts instead of quoting them tongue.gif

Maybe you mean Hardware Profiles? I use that for my Laptop. In Properties of My Computer.

I log in to each setting, and tweak it as I need.

ie: I have my laptop settings for: Wireless, Wired, All, No Internet, Gaming, etc.
