Update: This problem has been solved!

Hi guys,

Whenever I have ACE MEGA CODECS PACK installed, RealPlayer doesn't work. When I open it, it just doesn't open... and then when I right click on a file and select "Play in RealPlayer" it comes up with an error from Media Player Classic (which is installed by ace mega codecs pack) saying that it's an invalid switch and stuff. The title bar is something like: c:\program files\ace mega codec pack\mediaplayerclassic.exe /play c:\program files\real\real player\rplayer.exe

I love Ace mega Codecs Pack, but I also need to play some .rm files. Can anybody help me?

Thank you! smile.gif

Change the .rm file association back to real player instead of using media player classic to play .rm files.
Nehemoth
I recomend you that you change from ace to kazaa Lite Codecs 2.32 download it from betanews.com
Illrigger
I recommend you don't use ANY of those codec packs. They all install crap you will never in a million years use.

Use the latest development FFDShow. It has every codec I've ever needed, and it doesn't include 500 codecs I'll never use.

Change the .rm file association back to real player instead of using media player classic to play .rm files.

It doesn't change the file association, it corrupts realplayer. Even uninstalling realplayer doesn't work. Or manually opening it from the exe file.

No... kazaa lite codecs doesn't have what I need. I play .vob, .m2v, .mpeg, .mpg, .rm, etc.

Then install SLD Codec pack.

Their point is that, it's better to install all the codecs you need seperatly, instead of having 100's of them you don't need just eating resources and such.
Illrigger
My point exactly. FFDShow has XVid/Divx and AAC - everything I need. I don't want "JoeBlow's Encoding Codec", and I don't want 4 versions of invideo from 1992-1996. All they do is eat up space and confilct with MCE.

k-lite's codec pack let's u choose which ones u want to install or not. so if u only want the xvid codec, that's all u get.

I've done that. And it always messed up MCE anyway, as did ACE and Nemo. MCE is infamous for its sensitivity to installing codecs, and obviously the big packs install more than they let on, even in a minimal installation.

oggds
and vobsub

All I need and all I want installed. There really isn't much more you need.

Check out the latest dev versions of FFDshow - they include AC3, AAC and a couple other common ones now.
Sinbad
Ah good to know. I probably have those few installed twice then, laugh.gif.
